Jackal kills Bat-eared fox
Hi Everyone
Good to be back! I am more on the admin bus nowadays and can’t wait to get back to the wild.
Never been published before!!!
Going through my Kalahari pictures, I came upon a sequence of photos taken of a fight between a Black-backed jackal and a female Bat-eared fox. While I was taking the pictures, Nicoleen buried her head in a pillow not to watch and also not to hear the whining of the Bat-ear.
The Bat-ear put up a brave fight but the jackal was too strong for her. Both exhausted from the fight in the mid-day heat of 45 degrees Celsius, the jackal retreated to the shade of a Witgat tree and the Bat-ear died under a bush.
Only the first picture was published in our Kalahari book (KALAHARI – Magnificent Desert).
Speak again soon!
That is amazing photo’s!

Thank you Kobus! We try to keep these kind of “blood & guts” pictures out of our coffee table books.

That’s an incredible photo op. I think it’s really important to showcase the brutality of nature at times via photos like these. It isn’t all wonderful and nice, stuff like this happens every day. Thank you for posting these.
